This fabulous garden was a lot of work, and the sloping plot no longer met the Clients’ needs. With large family gatherings, visiting children, and a pets, it was time for change!

Entertainment space
A new deck has been added to increase the entertainment area, and better link the kitchen extension to the garden
Fence treatment helps the existing boundary recede – glass balustrade and bespoke gates keep children and dogs safe
Main garden
More manageable and level lawn is perfect for play time, bounded by a Spring border of rhododendron and bulbs.
Fence line is broken up with hedging and a statement Himalayan birch.
Generous mixed borders flank the boardwalk, providing easy care summer colour and scent
Play Area
Keen to introduce children to the wildlife, the meadow (still coming up!) and native shrubs at the end of the garden adjoin a safe play area. This is designed to comply with regs, and is dressed in play bark. The new climbing frame is on order – Wild Places can’t wait to visit soon
Before we started, the space didn’t feel balanced and was dominated by the trees on the East boundary
